Digital Camera Term Glossary

Resolution: Essentially, the number of pixels that the camera is able to capture. The more pixels in an image the more detailed and sharp the picture will be.

Screen Size: For digital cameras the screen size refers to the size of the glass preview screen on the back of the camera, when measured diagonally from one corner to the other.

FPS: Frames Per Second. In taking still shots it refers to the number of pictures you can take in a second, depending on the speed of the cameras' processor. In video it is a factor in video quality. The higher the better.

SLR: Single Lens Reflex. Basically speaking, SLR digital cameras use interchangeable lenses while non-SLR digital cameras have only one, non-removable lens.
